The war in Libya continues unabated. Colonel Muammer Gaddafi has told his troops to retreat from the city of Misarata. He now wants local tribes to talk to the rebels; if they don’t surrender, the tribes are to wage war on them. In other words, Gaddafi favors a civil war.

Gaddafi is as evil a dictator as they come. The man is slaughtering his own people; the only thing he cares about is his own power (and money). If if means he’ll have to kill tens of thousands of his fellow countrymen to hang on to power, so be it.

Having said that, I’m not convinced the rebels are much better. Recently videos have been released in which the rebels can be seen killing captured soldiers loyal to Gaddafi. Additionally, it has been reported that Al Qaeda is involved. Are those the kind of people we want to take over in Libya or even associate with?
