The Washington Post has hired blogger Ezra Klein, Politico‘s Michael Calderone reports.Klein is one of the youngest members of the prominent blogosphere (like me, he is 24 years old), and an ideological liberal. Although the Washington Post cannot be considered right-wing, it does not have the reputation of being left-wing either; so hiring Klein does not ‘confirm’ the paper’s (perceived) bias.

Having said that, if you hire someone like Klein to work for you – and let me congratulate Klein here – you should also be on the look out for conservative talent. If you want to remain a reasonably centrist newspaper which is read by people from all political pursuasions, that is.

Interestingly enough, Klein is not only a reasonably well known blogger, he also runs the now infamous JournoList. This list is highly secretive; members are invited and all are ideological liberals. Any suggestions as to how he got this gig?
