The Jerusalem Post reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday that Iran will not retreat “one iota on [its] nuclear rights.” He added that he was extremely happy that the West, and especially the U.S., seems to grow to agree with him. The West, Ahmadinejad said, has moved “from confrontation to interaction.”

And where has that led us? Well, exactly where we were before we started talking to Iran. In fact, you could even argue that we’re worse off now. After all, the deal designed by the United States implies that the West agrees Iran has “nuclear rights.” A few months ago, this was not the case.MORE

As Rich Lowry quoted a friend of his as saying, we are seeing one of the most important events taking place in our lifetime: the revolution in Iran continues to grow in scope and ferocity.

Where the powerful Basij militia once oppressed the Iranian people, it’s members now have to flee for their lives whenever they stumble across angry citizens.MORE

The Haaretz has a fascinating article up about Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. To summarize: he believes that Iran wants to orchestrate a second holocaust by destroy Israel. His foreign policy, then, is aimed at removing the threat Iran poses and, thus, to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said she was “deeply disappointed” by what the State Department has called baseless charges against Ms. Saberi, and demanded her release.MORE

The timing of it is rather unexpected, but it seems that a true revolution is taking place in Iran. Many commentators and politicians, President Obama first and foremost, have insisted in recent weeks that the difference between Ahmadinejad and Mir Hossein Moussavi is neglectible, but Iranians seem to strongly disagree on that.MORE

Meir Javedanfar wrote an interesting column for the Guardian in which he takes a closer look at Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s messianic beliefs, how they influence him and guide his (country’s) policies. Read the whole thing.

Roxan Saberi’s parents visited their daughter for the first time she was imprisoned in Iran. Saberi was (falsely of course) accused of spying for the U.S. government and sentenced to eight years in jail.

Her parents visited her today, Monday, and said she was in good condition.MORE

I have no idea how to interpret this:

German newspaper the Spiegel published an interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. In it, Ahmadinejad goes on at length about the United States, Barack Obama, and American opposition to Iran’s nuclear project.
