John McCain

Via Conservatives4Palin comes this article at the Wall Street Journal (of all places), about Arizona Senator (and the GOP’s presidential nominee last year) John McCain‘s appearance on MSNBC‘s “Meet the Press” earlier today. The article is yet another prime example of how the media purposefully distort comments made by conservatives, to manufacture controversies meant to weaken the entire conservative movement.

The WSJ’s Stephen Power writes that McCain first praised his former running mate Sarah Palin, after which he proceeded to insult her by calling her “irrelevant”:

Arizona Sen. John McCain came to the defense of his former GOP running mate Sarah Palin on Sunday. But in doing so, he used an adjective that some might not consider such a compliment.MORE

Senator John McCain was never popular among the social conservative base of his party. Despite this lack of support from socons, the Arizona senator succeeded in winning his party’s presidential nomination last year nonetheless. When election time arrived, most voted for him despite their distrust of the moderate Republican.MORE

The controversy surrounding the tape that’s in the LA Times’ possession (which they should release), where Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama toasts Khalidi at a going away party before Khalidi left to become a professor at Colombia University, has been reported here at Poligazette.

“I don’t know, she has been on the national scene for a month, already has an ethnics violation?

“Who said she’s not ready for Washington?”

Though some conservatives think McCain should have pressed on Bill Ayers, et.MORE

At a campaign stop Friday, October 17, in Roanoke, Virginia, Sen. Barack Obama took aim at Sen. John McCain’s health care plan. “The Wall Street Journal recently reported that it was actually worse than we thought.MORE

Appearing, he seems to become a regular guest, at MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” former Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani said that the McCain campaign’s tone is “just right.”

“I think that John McCain is emphasizing the economy,” Giuliani went on to say.

The question, of course, was aimed at the perceived negativity of the campaign. (more…)

MSNBC’s Chuck Todd explained earlier today what John McCain needs to do in tonight’s debate. The main point, simple: “discredit Obama.” He has to convince voters that Obama will not be a good president. He is not ready for the presidency, McCain has to argue, his associations are too questionable, and his policies to liberal.

Whatever happens, Todd’s message is fairly clear: McCain needs a stellar performance. (more…)
