Ongoing upheaval in the Arab world and Middle East. Young people in Morocco, Syria, Yemen and Egypt are protesting against the rigid old powers. This clash between the young and the old is a classical one. 2400 years ago the Greek Playwright Sophocles wrote ‘Antigone’, about the stubborn King Creon who was challenged by his freethinking son and daughter in law. “Listen to other opinions, than just your own!” But this classical play is also an early warning for the upcoming new Arab powers.

Dutch MP Boris van der Ham has a weekly ‘freethinking video blog’ (vrijzinnige lezing) in Dutch on YouTube. Every month he delivers one in English. He reads from an inspiring work of freethinkers from present and past. For future English versions you can follow Freethoughtvlog on twitter: @freethoughtvlog and subcribe on freethoughtvlog.com (it’s free).
