Palinism in action

After she – and other prominent conservatives – were blamed for the horrendous tragedy in Arizona, former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin clouded herself in silence for a few days, after which she came back with avengeance. She released a video in which she took on the mainstream  media and leftist activists (but I’m repeating myself) for playing dirty games; for literally using the horrific deaths of six innocent people to further their agenda.

Watch the video:

Sarah Palin: “America’s Enduring Strength” from Sarah Palin on Vimeo.

It goes without saying that Palin is right. Leftists condemned conservatives in general for the shooting before we even knew the slightest thing about Jared Lee Loughner’s political views. Once more information surfaced about his background, it became clear that he is simply insane. Politics had nothing to do with his terrible crime. Of course that inconvenient fact did not prevent leftists from lashing out at, especially, Palin time and again. They had found a new political weapon, and they were determined to use it for all its worth.

Palin waited a few days, but when she finally came out, she did so blasting. She blasted the media and her other leftist critics, and had no qualms accusing them of ‘blood libel.’ While the Left will undoubtedly hate her for it, she has the truth on her side. Progressives’ reaction to the Arizona shooting was nauseating.

What’s more intriguing about this whole affair than the Left’s reaction, however, is Palin’s response to the ‘blood libel.’ Some advisers undoubtedly told her to keep her mouth shut, to let this one go. But that’s not Palin’s style. No. She’s a self-styled momma grizzly. Although it’s easy to make fun of this term, the fact of the matter is that she does embody the grizzly-attitude. She fears nothing. When cornered, she lashes out. She plays offense at all times, not just when so-called ‘experts’ think it’s convenient. And big pappa grizzlies don’t impress her one bit. She’s determined to protect her cubs – whether they’d be her own career, her ideals, her policy views, her children, or her allies – against all cost. And that’s precisely what makes her so dangerous to the left.

Palin’s distinct approach to politics is “Palinism.” To me, it’s basically a libertarian conservative world view, combined with an aggressive strategy to win elections and shape the general tone of the debate. Although some more careful – and fearful – conservatives may not like it, Palin’s combination is the way forward; at least for her.

Although I have a record of criticizing Palin, I’ve come to respect her tremendously in recent months. The more she says and writes, the more impressed I am by her character, fearlessness, political intelligence and strategy. This is one dangerous lady – if you oppose her agenda, that is.

I’m not ready yet to (prematurely) endorse any candidate for president, but Palin certainly is at, or near, the top of my list. Conservatives need her desperately; other politicos are too afraid of the mainstream media to fight back, but not Palin. Unlike any other conservative politician, she’s able to set the tone of the debate. Even those who are right-of-center and who do not support the governor’s ambitions, have to admit that she has a vital role to play in the conservative movement. To silence her – because you consider her ‘too divisive’ – is not just ludicrous, but potentially dangerous. After all, who else is willing and able to take on the left and its dirty games?

iusbvision Michael my old friend, you and I are thinking more alike every single day. :) I got into a debate with a leftist on this issue and it would seem that how I finished him off is relevant to this discussion: What the left does not realize is they have already lost the argument at-large. You see it is not about whether Palin is an anti-Semite - because she is not, and no one with any sense at all is going to buy that she is. Every time this subject is brought up it will beg the question: Is what the left and their allies in the elite media have done a grotesque blood libel? Did they present her, as well as other Republicans who were totally innocent, as accomplices to murder with no facts, and continue to push that narrative after the facts were known? The answer is an overwhelmingly and royally obvious yes and all of the the quote cherry picking, false narrative pushing, and Mother Jones quoting in the world is not going to change that. In a few months I cannot wait to see what Rasmussen and Gallup will have to say about how much the people trust the elite media. I bet a happy meal it will be a record low. You see the last time Palin used a "polarizing term" like "Death Panels" - oh the elite media and the far left had a cow, they called her names, they called her a liar, they called her everything but a child of God, but look at what was taken out of the bill, and look at what regulations the HHS just backed down in making. ObamaCare is polling at an all time low and favorability for its repeal is at an all time high. Sarah Palin won that argument too, just like she is already winning this one. So perhaps my political science instincts seem to be in a little better shape than the left would like to accept. Reagan was polarizing too, and so was Marco Rubio, and Michele Bachmann, and Chris Christie and Bobby Jihndal and oh those horrible Tea Parties are so polarizing... yup they sure are... but some how in polling they are doing a whole lot better than just good... ...and just wait till you see how polarizing Herman Cain is :) Signed, A happy winner. Chuck Norton Michael, aren't we told that bloggers like us cannot be trusted because we don't have a litany of fact checkers and editors to double check us? Yet look at what has happened now, within minutes almost the entire elite media corps was reporting that Sarah Palin and other Republicans were accomplices to murder. When the truth came out that he was mostly apolitical but favored Karl Marx and 911 "Truther" stuff did it matter? Nope the elite media doubled down with it and now they are blasting Sarah for daring to speak out. So much for the line editors and fact checkers.....
    • Michael_Merritt Your argument is correct, but I'm getting sick of all the "he favored Karl Marx" stuff. Many conservatives keep picking out it and Mein Kampf from the list, and ignoring Rand, Orwell, and the others. People keep calling this attack apolitical, but I think that's too simplistic as well. I think there certainly was a political element to this attack, even if it was only understood by Loughner himself. We often spend far too much time trying to define people. If we can't do it easily, if they don't fit into pre-defined categories, we call them apolitical, as people are doing with Loughner. I'll try and expand on this in a proper post.

Michael vd Galien @iusbvision: very good points, all. Palin is winning each and every debate and I'd wager it's not despite her 'polarization' but because of it. She understands that conservatives can actually win by polarizing the debate. McCain refused to do so in 08, and look where it got him. The next Republican presidential nominee - whomever he or she may be - has to understand that (s)he'll benefit by polarizing the debate as much as humanly possible. In a polarized world, voters prefer conservatives over progressives. The latter can only win if they are willing to fight dirty while the former treat them with kid gloves. Chuck: exactly right.

1nterested Took me 2 minutes to find a bulls-eye map from the DLC. Took me less than 2 minutes to find the words target when coming from a Left org. Not to mention Daily Kos listing the same politician as a target on his blog. rubbish, We'll never get Palin unfortunately.
    • Michael_Merritt "Not to mention Daily Kos listing the same politician as a target on his blog." This was actually one of the first attacks I saw. Conservatives were screaming "conspiracy" at Kos, because they pulled that article. Then Sarah Palin and Jesse Kelly started pulling articles too, and those people had to shut up. Luckily or not, liberals far exceeded the stupidity level, so conservatives look great in comparison.

@rodericdeane I can't stand the use of the word "polarizing" in describing Sarah Palin. That is a legacy media meme that is designed to suggest that Palin is an extremist. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you watched Palin's video response, she went to great lengths to encourage dialogue from all quarters, but not the type foisted on us by the shameless and fast-devolving legacy media. I truly believe that when all is said and done, Sarah will be proven to have "galvanized" support for this country's founding principles. The 2010 election will be looked at as a mere glimpse of what is to come.

Super Sachiko this is a great article. a major reason why i want palin to be president is this very reason: she has the courage to fight. she's not afraid of people who try to take her down. haters try so hard to defeat her but she just keeps coming back. other potential candidates don't have that bold attitude that she has. they wait for what polls and analysts tell them to do. "Although I have a record of criticizing Palin, I’ve come to respect her tremendously in recent months." good for you- i think a lot of people are going to be like you. at first, they thought palin wasnt a strong candidate for various reasons. but the more they learn about her and get to know her, they realize, wait a minute, she's better than i thought. i noticed a lot of people doing that lately- people who aren't palin's biggest fans are slowly liking her more and more. i think that you and those other people will eventually vote for palin in the primary! =)
