The Restoring Honor Rally yesterday brought thousands of people out to the Lincoln Memorial. I know that by the time I got there, there were people filling out the area beyond the treeline, and all the way up to the road. And if they weren’t all the way up to the Washington Monument, it was a close thing.

I’ll have a bit more of a meaty post up later at NewsReal Blog, but I just wanted to explain my position on Glenn Beck’s dream of taking back America via faith, hope, charity, and sacrifice.

In a word: yes. I do believe it’s possible, but not without work, and certainly not right away. It will take people recognizing that they can individually make a difference.

It might also take a little guidance. Beck says that guidance should come from God, but I can’t get behind that notion myself, seeing as how I’m an atheist. However, I believe even us folks can help reclaim America. That’s because we all have faith in something, whether it be our family, friends, community, or just the promise of America itself.

Whether we work with the guidance of God or another source, we certainly have the ability to fix many of the things I wrote about this week. I think the real test will come if we can become heroes when the moment calls for it.

If we can do that, we can, with some effort, take back America. It may take 25 years, but it is possible.

I’ll be back tonight and tomorrow night with a couple more areas where we need to restore honor: our integrity and the Constitution.
