Gallup published Barack Obama’s approval rating per state. The results of the pollster’s large-scale research are fascinating: they show that, only 1.5 years into his first term, the president should already start planning for life after the White House.

The top 10 of states in which Obama’s approval rating is the lowest are, according to Gallup:

Now, while most of these states went to John McCain in 2008, not all did. New Hampshire went to Obama and quite easily so. His margin of victory was almost ten percent. At this moment, however, only 41% of New Hampshire voters approve of the job Obama’s doing, while a stunning 52% disapprove. This means that Obama’s (conservative) opponent in 2012 could theoretically take N.H. away from Obama.

That’s bad for Obama, but what’s even worse for him is that New Hampshire isn’t exactly the only state that went blue during the last elections, but that could very well color red two years from now. No, the same goes for states like Indiana (45% approval rating), Florida (47%), Pennsylvania (48%), Maine (48%), Iowa (48%), Wisconsin (48%), Virginia (48%) and Minnesota (49%). In all of these states, Obama is facing serious popularity issues.

These are quite simply stunning poll results. Conservatives have been saying for a long time that, Obama’s victory in ‘08 notwithstanding, America still is a center-right nation. They’ve (we’ve) now been proved right. The most progressive president in American history has only been in office for 1.5 years, but is already facing horrendous approval ratings, signifying he’ll have more than a hard time winning reelection. If that doesn’t rally the conservative base, I don’t know what will.

Steve simply stunning? I think not. Had you taken the time to compare Obama support on Election Day 2008 (ED) with his support today in these "Bottom 10 States" you probably would not have posted this article. Especially since it shows that the President really hasn't taking that much of a hit in the Red States it's just right-wing spin... Today he's even polling better in a few of your "Bottom 10 States" than he did on election day. Missouri ED = 49% Today = 41% net change = 8% Alabama ED = 39% Today = 41% net change + 2% New Hampshire ED = 54% Today = 41% net change = 13% Tennessee ED = 42% Today = 41% net change - 1% Kentuchy ED = 40% Today = 41% net change - 1% Arkansas ED = 39% Today = 40% net change + 1% Montana ED = 47% Today = 38% net change - 9 % Alaska ED = 38% Today = 38% net change ZERO % Oklahoma ED = 34% Today = 37% net change - 3% Idaho ED = 36% Today = 34% net change - 2% West Virginia ED = 43% Today = 34% net change - 9% Utah ED = 34% Today = 34% net change ZERO % Wyoming ED = 33% Today = 34% net change + 1%

Interested so you feel a combined 18% negative fall as insignificant? You feel this is spin? Had you taken the time to do math on your undocumented numbers - you probably would not have posted a reply.

Steve Obama's numbers are down but your new math doesn't work, try "averaging" and you'll see that Obama's average rating drop among the "Bottom 10 states" in this poll is ONLY 4.2 % from his election day numbers. As I wrote above he's polling better in a few of the "Bottom 10 States" than he did on election day so yes, I feel this is spin. The New Hampshire numbers are a bit suspicious too considering the poll numbers from all of its neighboring, like minded neighbors.

Steve Interested inferred that my numbers are "undocumented", now I may have fail to link to my source but the numbers I used are very well documented... They're called "Election Results". You can Google "election 2008 state by state" or go to: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/state/ and be assured that my numbers valid.

Lee Thomas I would think that the problem the Right has in this country is the continual need to bash on Obama. They need to bash on the Congress who is his enabler. Without a complicit congress he might actually make a good ambassador for the USA in world affairs.
