Good news! Even though George W. Bush was succeeded as president by Barack Obama 1.5 years ago, our beloved left-wing mainstream media are somehow still able to blame him for just about every ill in the world. No kidding, they’re even holding him responsible for the announced divorce between former vice-president turned global warming warrior Al Gore and his wife Tipper. I know what you’re thinking, “that doesn’t make sense! How in the world can Bush, who has nothing whatsoever to do with the Gores, be responsible? Did he seduce Tipper, or something?”

Why, no:

On Tuesday’s CBS Evening News, with the help of the Washington Post’s Sally Quinn, Sharyl Attkisson managed to blame news, that Al and Tipper Gore are separating, on how they never got over being denied the presidency despite winning the popular vote in 2000. If only Bush hadn’t taken it from them.

Attkisson recalled “it’s been ten years since that oddly public passionate kiss at the Democratic convention. That was followed by Gore winning the popular vote for President but losing the electoral vote. Family friend Sally Quinn says that may have done the marriage irreparable harm.”

Viewers then head from Quinn, who’s married former Post Executive Editor Ben Bradlee and is now titular overseer of the paper’s “On Faith” blog: “He obviously suffered a lot and still is suffering. He’ll never get over that and neither will she.”

Gore divorces because he lost the elections Bush stole the elections back in 2000. It took ten years before the Gores’ suffering caught up with them and ruined their marriage. Right.

Um, for some reason that doesn’t sound very logical to me – at all. Then again, I’m not a willfully blind ideological leftist so perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised that I don’t swallow Attkisson’s incongruent diatribe.

  1. Michael_Merritt Err, has the conservative media finally set up their own version of Journolist or something? Seems the same talking point is going around. If so, I want in. All joking aside, to be fair, Bush isn't even mentioned in the story. The story only mentions that event. Perhaps one of them had a radical behavior change when Al lost, which could lead to the growing apart part. Also, consider that after the election, Gore has been doing his global warming jockeying for his film, making his speeches, etc. Maybe the guy was away from home a few times too many. Who knows? The story lacks a lot of detail, other than mentioning the 2000 election. From the interview with the friend, sounds like one or both of them couldn't deal with losing the election. I think, this time, people are a little too quick on the "there they go again!" sentiment. Yes, Bush has been blamed a lot, for things that he had no control over, and for responsibilities that are now owned by Obama. But no need for the knee jerk, I think.

Interested Well sure, it's a lot more Quinn than probably the Gore's - but Quinn's take on it is undeniable. Had Gore won - than their marriage would not have suffered this supposed irreparable harm - and that was what Michael's post was about. Or as least how I read it. Course on the other hand, Quinn is certainly a peach isn't she? This is her take on how the Obama's were supposed to be throwing parties - which Washington hasn't seen as much of lately.
Members of Congress, who had been sleeping on sofas in their offices and in group houses because their families lived back in the home districts, would start accepting invitations again instead of working for 18 hours, three days a week, and then going home for four.
I mean my word - how dare they - they - they - work! http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/arti...
    • Michael_Merritt Don't know if this is really true, or if it was just sniping by a lib publication, but after Obama was elected, there was a story on one of the major sites wondering if we were to once again see the nightowl Presidency, supposedly because Clinton typically worked until after past midnight, and Bush usually closed up shop around 9pm.

Interested Yeah I had read something similar, Except Clinton didn't stroll into work until late in the morning, Bush was in very early. The article I read neglected to mention that.

Lee Thomas What I noticed above all else was how intimate this reporter seemed to be with the Gores. It was as if they were her best friends. It is pretty hard to be impartial and report the facts when you have this kind of vested interest in the object of those facts. In a time when we are always talking about the MSM and their power elite it is evident in this woman's response to the break up of Al and Tipper Gore. What a tragedy. I always look for angles when analyzing the news or reports. In this case what struck me was the response of the MSM. They took it personal and they all attributed it to the loss of the presidency which was "owed" Al Gore.

fencesitter How about we discuss something useful and important instead of this non-story?
