How nice, I just received a thank you note from President Obama:

Michael –

I wanted to take a moment to thank you directly for the outstanding work you’ve been doing for health reform.

Why thank you sir. God knows I’m doing everything I can to prevent the United States from following in Europe’s (destructive socialized medicine) footsteps. Glad you’ve noticed my hard work in that regard. Appreciate it.

I can tell you that your voice is heard in Washington every day.

Wow, that’s quite a relieve! I feared you and your friends were too arrogant to notice the righteous anger from tens of millions of Americans and the criticism from ObamaCare critics. Glad to hear I was wrong on that one!

I see how your efforts are moving us toward victory.

No problem at all, Mr. President! It’s my pleasure, it really is. I’m doing what I believe to be the right thing.

Oh, wait. What’s that about “victory”? What “victory”? By victory you mean defeating the health care plan now on the table, right? I mean, why else would you email me?

The politicians in Washington need courage to face down the powerful interests who have held back progress for far too long. And all of us who share this cause need courage to speak up with persistence and clarity in these final days.

I’ve always found that courage comes from remembering that we fight for something and someone beyond ourselves. It comes from our faith. And it comes from our commitment to those we love.

Darn it. It’s yet another mass email you’ve sent out to your (quite extensive, it has to be said) email lists. Too bad. You had me thinking for a moment there that you’ve actually learned to listen to your critics. Ah well, that’s life I guess.

Evil "God knows I’m doing everything I can to prevent the United States from following in Europe’s (destructive socialized medicine) footsteps." Yeah, us Europeans would gladly take up an extra job or mortgage our houses just so we could share in the ideologically pure, Reagan-approved system. Like in a Rand novel, we are all pining for some glorious hero to rupture the philosophical perversion that is our current systems, so that we may regain our honor by subjecting ourselves to Americas prideful, almost erotically right-wing system. Poor us. "I feared you and your friends were too arrogant to notice the righteous anger from tens of millions of Americans and the criticism from ObamaCare critics." Obamacare! With a capital C for the "care" even though only a moron would write a portmanteau like that! It's funny how the man left the entire bill to congress, yet it's now "ObamaCare"... It's. It's almost as if... Waaaaait a minute. Now I get it. "Obama" has bad associations, and people like you hate Obama... So when you suffix "Obama" with "Care", all people like you know immediately that they must oppose the reform on an emotional level. Because it's "OBAMAcare". Gosh. So creative. So... So dang down-to-earth and gutsy. So fresh, non-partisan and persuasive. Of course I have to oppose the bill now... After all, it's not called "HOLOCAUSTCare" for nothing. " You had me thinking for a moment there that you’ve actually learned to listen to your critics." You have been listened to, and because you were too busy coming up with Drudge-level shrieking portmanteaus rather than actually try to convince him otherwise, you have been found wanting and is, by the standards of meritocracy, ignored. Cry me a river. Now I'm off to rape lady liberty. After all, I support the idea of an insurance mandate in order to create a pool that gives even risky people a chance to insure themselves against bankruptcy, which means I am a "mega-holocaust-rape-socialist-nazi".

David At least you didn't get a pre-recorded phone message to your mobile. When I was in Hungary for the last election I got a phone call from then PM Gyurcsany himself asking me to vote for him (I assume - my Hungarian is not that great). :)

Michael vd Galien LOL David! No, not yet. I would not put it past Obama to call me in 2012 though ;). Yes, ain't it awesome Patrick? Obama's uniting everybody. Who said he's a divider not a uniter?

Ron Livaudais Obama is a purveyor and strong believer in appeasement. If I'm nice to my enemies, they'll be nice to me. He thinks by being nice to you and giving you some nod of appreciation, all of a sudden you, Michael, of all people will start drinking his kool-aid......................NOT....................

Michael_Merritt Obama thanked me, too. But the Republicans have continually thanked me for fighting for them on conservative issues. Not once has my voter registration ever been Republican. :)

Jeb You mean you signed up for a mass mailing list and were subsequently sent a mass mailing. Truly shocking.
