In the face of an attack that was stopped mainly due to incompetence, we have seen security raised yet again for flights coming into the United States.  This may seem like a good move and, if you wish to immediately allay some fears that your government isn’t doing enough to stop bombers from entering a plane, it is.  However, I think most people know that this is a superficial toughening of security at best.MORE

When Iranian lovers of liberty and democracy decided that the mad Mullahs had persecuted, tortured and killed them long enough, and organized protest after protest against their rule, you expected America to come out in support of them. After all, the “land of the free and the home of the brave” has always been an example and inspiration to all those who love freedom.

Sadly, no word of support came from the White House.MORE

I do not partake in the religious traditions, but I’d be denying reality if I said Christmas wasn’t a great holiday.

From all of us here at Poligazette, have a Merry Christmas.

In a straight party-line vote, Democrats in the U.S. Senate today passed a health care system reform bill through their side of Congress, despite the fact that a sizable majority of voters oppose the measure. While it’s possible that the bill, which is over 2000 pages long at this point, may come apart in negotiations with the House, it’s more likely that this conglomeration of ill-thought, large parts of which are still unread by senators who voted for it, will become law.MORE

Mary Grabar wrote an article for Pajamas Media yesterday, in which she argues that it’s time for libertarians to join the social conservative side in the war on drugs. Libertarians, she writes, may argue that marijuana is similar to alcohol and tobacco, but they’re wrong. You see, marijuana hampers:

the work ethic, emotional engagement, sexual inhibition, and the ability to reason.MORE

It might be hard to believe for Americans who are used to Obama-worshipping from their MSM, but European media have blamed President Barack Obama for the fiasco at Copenhagen. This even though they celebrated his victory against Sen. John McCain last year as if he were the second coming of the Messiah.

The narrative taking hold is this: Although Obama may have thought of himself as The Great Savior, who’d convince the international community to agree on a plan to fight global warming, he accomplished the exact opposite by acting like a pompous ass.MORE

This is a good video by CATO.

The explanation:

Huge deficits and skyrocketing debt levels are creating considerable worry. This Center for Freedom and Prosperity Foundation video explains that that government borrowing is excessive – and will get worse in coming decades. But this mini-documentary explains that deficits and debt are merely the symptoms, and a rising burden of government spending is the real problem.

This really is what it’s all about. Watch it.
