398px-Ann_Coulter2Really?  Four days after an attempted terrorist attack by a black Nigerian, Ann Coulter suggests we focus on racial profiling?  She has been paying attention to the news, right?  I’m not so sure, because if you only listened to Ann Coulter, you might think that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was an Arab, which of course we know he isn’t.

Sure.  Lets go ahead and institute racial profiling.  I mean, it isn’t as if Al Qaeda hasn’t already modified their procedures due to their knowledge of increased suspicious of Arabs in the U.S.  Oh, wait, that’s right, they did change their methods.  And if you start trying for racial profiling, they will simply do so again.  I predict that it won’t be so long before an Al Qaeda-linked terrorist is a white guy.  Why not?  After all, I’ve never heard them express any hate for people of a different race; only people who don’t follow their ultra-fundamentalist version of Islam and who hate America.  Certainly enough white guys around the world hate America.

There are some ways you can properly profile a potential threat, but race has to be the least effective method, as it’s so easy to try something else when it comes to that, as we saw on Friday.

Coulter rants away about wanting racial profiling at about 4:27:

Carly If only terrorists were as predictable as Coulter! Well, she's never been known for her diplomacy so it's no surprise she would support racial profiling. If anything, she's highlighted the stupidity of the plan with her endorsement. Egad, she's awful to look at and listen to. Her short skirts, overprocessed hair, drag queen makeup, and incessant blah, blah, blahing have become something like performance art...without the art. Being stuck in the seat next to this wench on a trans-Atlantic flight is the equivalent of terrorism. Let her keep rattling on. The older she gets, the uglier and dumber she gets.

chris Carly ...you must be very jealous of this woman. She is certainly far from ugly in fact she is kind of hot and her looks have nothing to do with the opinions she is expressing. It is so typical of the inferior that when they do not agree with anothers opinion and they have no valid argument against them to resort to name calling and the like. Good job.

Ann Coulter on racial profiling: what else is new? « FemBot [...] 31, 2009 At some point I’m going to have to write about my sick fascination with Ann Coulter, who cannot be a real person. I think most people agree with me. She’s sort of a Kaufman-esque [...]

Musing Mary Ann The point that Ann was trying to make that seems to have gone over the head of a few of the commentaries here is that race coupled with paying cash for their ticket, traveling alone and having no luggage is no longer racial profiling. Once additional variables come into play that are the calling card for each attempted attack then it is not racial profiling anymore - it is learning from history - Isn't that why we study history in the first place?
  6. Michael Merritt You appear to be altering your own thoughts here for the sake of the audience, perhaps. I assure you nobody is going to personally attack you for what you really want to say. And even if they do, they will not be commenting here, anymore. From your blog:
select Middle Eastern men traveling alone, who pay for their tickets with cash and have no luggage
Well, sure. If you wanted another way to let the black Nigerian who just attempted an attack get through airport security. Go right ahead. Instead, why don't we pull all people who pay for their ticket in cash and have no luggage out of line. That way, you're treating any of them as a potential threat, but not the whole populace. And you're not committing racial profiling, either. But we cannot do just that. We know from the underwear bomber that there is no assurance an item will be found, sort of strip-searching every person who fits the above description. We need to make sure the intelligence we're sure about gets to the right people. And we can also consider the behavior of people going through the airports, as Al Qaeda will no doubt start paying for their agents' tickets by credit card, and giving them some legit-looking luggage, after the last attempt.
