The Jerusalem Post reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday that Iran will not retreat “one iota on [its] nuclear rights.” He added that he was extremely happy that the West, and especially the U.S., seems to grow to agree with him. The West, Ahmadinejad said, has moved “from confrontation to interaction.”
And where has that led us? Well, exactly where we were before we started talking to Iran. In fact, you could even argue that we’re worse off now. After all, the deal designed by the United States implies that the West agrees Iran has “nuclear rights.” A few months ago, this was not the case.
He added that Iran welcomed the international offer to ship out 70 percent of its enriched uranium to Russia for further enrichment, but was unspecific as to whether the Islamic Republic would sign the deal.
On Thursday afternoon Reuters reported that the nation had handed the International Atomic Energy Agency its response to the UN deal. The news agency cited state-owned Al-Alam TV. There was no information on the content or nature of the response, and no official confirmation has yet been made by the IAEA.
And why would Iran agree? The very fact that the UN has suggested Iran ship 70% of its nuclear stockpiles, means it agrees that Tehran has ‘the right’ to enrich uranium.
Could it be that Iran will agree nonetheless? Why yes:
Ahmadinejad’s speech suggested that Iran will stick by earlier comments that support the framework of the deal, but demand some changes. A key point is how quickly Iran is willing to send its stockpile of low-enriched uranium outside the country for further processing.
Hmm, “how quickly.” It’s about time then. Why, oh why, would Iran want to stall sending enriched uranium to Russia? What do you think, could it have anything to do with trying to enrich even more uranium in the meantime? So that the country can still develop a nuclear bomb? Could it be?
Nah, I’m pretty sure that Barack Obama and his friends are right when they say that the extremists in Tehran can be trusted. After all, isn’t that what psychopathic radicals are known for – their trustworthiness?
Bizarre, truly bizarre, how the West gives in to Iran’s demands time and again.
