Rioting Muslim workers in Lahore murdered their employer and two others over another alleged Koran-desecration incident.  Once again “alleged” is one important key word since no such act of vandalism has yet been demonstrated, to say nothing of what was known prior to the pogrom.

These are the facts of the case as understood at present:

A worker entered Najeebullah’s factory at around 2pm and saw that the owner had taken down an outdated calendar – which had verses from the holy Quran written on it – and put it on a table. The worker then misbehaved with the owner over – what he thought – was “desecration” of the holy Quran. When a guard tried to stop him, he ran out into the working area and started gathering his colleagues, claiming the owner had committed ‘blasphemy’.

Now it’s acceptable to murder 3 people over a pinup calendar?   No.

Does anyone really believe that this horrific event was spontaneous?  No.  The workers were a powder keg waiting for a spark and a used-up paper calendar provided them with the excuse they needed to kill. 

At some point sane minds must prevail and rabid animals like these be put down using the full force of the law.  Unfortunately, something tells me that’s not going to happen any time soon in Pakistan.  The thugs and bullies there control things the only ways they know how – through raw physical force and over the barrel of a gun.

God help the world if brutes such as these ever rise to real power.
