How sad, it seems that liberal network MSNBC is in disarray: word came out today that Keith Olbermann missed three shows back in April – David Schuster filled in for him – because he had a tantrum fit involving Ben Affleck. Here is what happened according to sources at MSNBC:
Olbermann wanted Afflect to appear on his show. Affleck did not agree, however. Instead, he agreed to appear on Rachel Maddow’s show, which was scheduled one hour later. Olbermann found out and asked Maddow and her staff to send Affleck to his show instead.
Although Maddow normally caves into Olbermann’s demands, she refused to do so this time around. The blowhard Olbermann could not deal with her ‘no,’ ran out, and did not come back for three days.
CityFile published the report of what truly happened, and Olbermann immediately reacted. In his usual pompous style he said:
“That was my first opportunity to take even a long weekend to mourn my mother’s death and deal with the many sad logistics subsequent to her sudden passing. The source of this story is a liar and those who spread it without seeking confirmation or reputation are beneath contempt.”
Now, I am pretty sure that Olbermann would never use his mother’s death as a pretty excuse to cover up his own emotional outbursts and arrogance, but his explanation seems to be a bit… incredible:
We were saddened to hear of Olbermann’s loss and found his tribute to his mother deeply moving. But if that was the reason Olbermann took time off two weeks later, we can’t imagine why Olbermann wouldn’t have simply said as much. Furthermore, we find it hard to believe one of his colleagues at MSNBC—a respected journalist, no less—would have attributed his absence to the “flu/allergy season” if Olbermann had made the perfectly understandable decision take a few days to mourn his mother’s passing.
That colleague is Schuster, who wrote on his Twitter that Olbermann had taken three days off because it was “flu season.” Note: he did not say Olbermann had the flu, he only implied it. If Olbermann did indeed take the days off because of his mother’s death, wouldn’t Schuster have said so?
Right, he would have.
It is extremely entertaining to see an arrogant blowhard like Olbermann twist and spin in order to cover up his own flaws. It is also interesting to once again see that these self proclaimed pundits are so convinced of their own importance, that they believe they can bully everybody else around. It does not work that way in the real world, Keith.
