Vice President Joe Biden continues to make gaffe after gaffe. Appearing on the Democrats’ party network – MSNBC – yesterday, he told Americans not to enter into any “confined” places like classrooms, the subway, and planes.

No kidding.

Let us imagine that the swine flu is indeed dangerous (read: deadly). Is it useful to tell people to shut down the entire country? To stop living? To avoid the subway? What would happen to, say, New York and its economy if people would refuse to travel in ‘confined places’? The entire economy would come to a standstill – and that while the world already suffers from a major recession.

Conclusion: if the swine flu posed a tremendous threat to us all, Biden should have worded his warning more carefully.

But the fact of the matter is that this specific flu is not as dangerous as many initially feared. In fact, this specific flu is not more dangerous than the normal flu.

Meanwhile, we should all thank Jake Tapper for asking Press Secretary Gibbs the tough questions. Watch the video of Tapper asking Gibbs about Biden’s remarks and the secretary’s answer.
