Thanks to Olbermann Watch: CNN’s Lou Dobbs lashed out at Keith Olbermann and Janeane Garofalo yesterday. He took both ideologues to task for their criticism of the Tea Party protesters.

Especially Garofalo was slapped down.

For those of you who don’t know: Garofalo is an actress and liberal activist. She appeared on Olbermann’s show recently, where she said that the protesters are “nothing but teabagging rednecks” who hate it that a “black man” occupies the White House. “It’s racism straight up,” the light said.

Dobbs holds a slightly different view. He believes the protesters are typical Americans who have had it with both Democrats and Republicans and the way they polarized the political debate.

“The national liberal media gets so snarky it can’t stand itself,” Dobbs said. He first called Garofalo and Olbermann “fools,” “elitists,” “hateful” and “idiots.” That was only the start of it, however. He went on to call Garofalo an “appalling human being” and he called her a “one-woman hate event.”

“If this isn’t enough to revolt anyone, I don’t know what’s required,” Dobbs said about the conversation between Garofalo and Olbermann.

“They think they are the bastion of the 21st century Socialistic thought. They are as left-wing as it can get,” he continued. “They are apparently held bound to be a conduit for the Obama administration.”

“And power to them, because the father they go in that direction, the more irrelevant [...] they become.”

“It’s just left-wing lunacy,” he concluded. “It’s sad to watch. They should just take their medication and go away.”

Garland "He believes the protesters are typical Americans who have had it with both Democrats and Republicans and the way they polarized the political debate." I believe this isn't true for all protestors, and that commentators on all sides should realize that and act acordingly. Some protestors decided the rallies were good opportunities to ask Obama where he was born or just throw right-wing tropes around - they have just migrated from the most fervent and partisan Palin rallies. This is a problem for the entire movement. "He went on to call Garofalo an “appalling human being” Yeah. Um, what silliness. Here we was doing so nicely and then he had to indulge himself like that. "“If this isn’t enough to revolt anyone, I don’t know what’s required,”" I agree with him. I don't want any part of his rhetoric, but Garofalo acted like a moron. The protestors are of many creeds and attitudes. Dobbs can't be made out to be the best thing since disposable grills. I'm sorry, he is right to smack Garofalo down and Olbermann as well for letting her hold court, but the tea parties aren't everything right-wing pundits want them to be, nor is it what sweeping left-wing voices try to slander them as.

lola Yeah, why weren't there more black Americans at these rallies? Is it really possible that ALL black Americans are just fine and dandy with the vast amount of spending going on in DC? I find that hard to believe. But whoever thinks this is about race should take a look at a baseball game somewhere in the heartland and guess what? you will see of white faces. Are baseball games racist now, too?

Jason Arvak Right. Because whoever loses an election then loses all right to protest or criticize the winner, right? But why didn't that apply to the left in 2000 or 2004, PalSamsara? I thought "dissent is patriotic" and that we should "speak truth to power"? Or were those just conveniences rather than principles on your side all along? Yeah. Thought so.
