FDL’s Jane Hamsher is an avid watcher (and mocker) of conservative causes and today she dismissed the “tea parties” thousands of American citizens have put together and attended to protest the Obama fiscal plan thusly:

the stupid teabagger protests, where people who never cared about George Bush spending like a drunken sailor are suddenly “fiscally responsible,” and want to hold hands and blame black people for taking out subprime loans.

Within the confines of the liberal echo chamber, where individuals’ right to control the money they earn is non-existence, civil disobedience in the cause of defending personal property is indeed stupid.  Never mind that this freedom is implicit in the very foundations of this country.  In fact, this core value is why no federal income tax was allowed for generations after the founding of the United States.

It also goes without saying that anyone who believes in personal and governmental financial responsibility is racist, although that too apparently needs to be said again to keep the echo going.

The point?  Jane and her crowd will be speaking in D.C. and Detroit this weekend to protest “what the banks are doing to the country”, whatever that means.

If any contributors or readers are in either city on Saturday it would be worth a short detour from real life to stop in and see what they’re talking to people about, whether there is any truth to the ideas that they’re putting in peoples’ ears, and what, if anything needs to be done to counter any misinformation they’re spreading.

Garland "It also goes without saying that anyone who believes in personal and governmental financial responsibility is racist" Yes, that's exactly what she is saying, that's the belief of everybody in the "liberal" "echo" "chamber". Except that isn't what she, or the members of this Chamber of Secrets, is saying, exactly. What I recall, a position held by some voices (represented by Mark Steyn, who's always right and bipartisan) is that the left-winger Death Eaters forced capitalists to give loans to everyone (including those with subprime credit, who happen to be black with higher frequency) because the left-wingers didn't want a meritocratic system to affect black people with an imbalance even though this wasn't a result of racism, and didn't need to be ameliorated. But left-wingers and their post-modernist desire to eliminate all inequality and abort Freedom and exhume Reagan's corpse and whatnot... In short, that is a claim that turn things to racial matters. As it turns out, this possibly exaggerated strong-arming of loan-givers wasn't that much of a factor in the current crisis, but there you go. Some right-wing voices have indeed claimed that the crisis was partially caused by poor (and therefore, often black) people being offered loans because left-wingers didn't tolerate black people being disproportionally poor and more often not given loans. I don't know how much there is to that claim, but I can't see any serious economist blaming the crisis on that hypothetical factor. Another thing I know is that quite a few, or most, of the people going Galt or Teabagging (chortle) or whatever never held another certain president to the same standards. That might not defend Obama from criticism, but it makes the significance and seriousness of these critics wane a bit.

Fraidykatt It seems that the GOP is so far down that the democrat journolisting machine has had to start attacking private citizens and anyone who claims to have an ounce of fiscal responsibility. In fact of late it seems if your heart is still beating and you are not lock step in tune with their agenda then they will launch their attack dogs after you as well. The left must demonize anything and everything to get their way. They learned well for George W. Bush and company. Now that which they despised is that which they have become and they are loving every minute of it. So really sad for those of us who are Not racist, did not spend a single penny of that deficit and pay our mortgage on time. However when I see my wife tonight Ill be sure to tell her that she is a racist, war mongering fiscally unsound Republican. Thanks for pointing out the error of my ways.

Garland, do you EVER tire of dishonestly distorting, caricaturing, and misrepresenting the beliefs of pretty much everyone who disagrees with you on any subject? I ask because, seriously, you are one of the least honest and least charitable discussants I've ever encountered in the blogosphere, and that's saying a lot, considering that "abusive liars" is one of the most well-populated categories on the entire internet. What you represent above is not the conservative argument about the Community Redevelopment Act, it is a leftist caricature of that argument designed specifically to avoid arguing its substance. Shame on you.
