My, my. Think Progress has found a new excuse to be angry with Republicans. This time the problem is that John Bolton joked that Chicago could be nuked by Iran if that nation develops nuclear weapons.

Although Boltons joke is rather obviously harsh and politically incorrect, it’s still pretty darn funny. What’s more, Boltons joke is right on target in so far that virtually everybody agrees that Chicago has proved itself to be one corrupt city where illegal and unethical behavior are par for the course.MORE

Reader Mike writes in the comment section of “Good News: $1.75 trillion deficit expected:”

While I share some of your frustration with the rising deficit, I think you’re overplaying your hand:

“Hmm, let me think. Why would the new administration try to “cut that amount sharply” before / around 2013? Hmm. I’m sure there’s something going to happen at the end of 2012. What’s that again? O yeah, now I remember: presidential elections! That’s funny.MORE

Count me slightly confused at this one.

The OC Register reports that Los Alamitos, California Mayor has apologized after sending a picture portraying the White House with a watermelon patch, including an African American businesswoman:MORE

This is the worst thing Obama could possibly do:

President Obama’s budget proposes $989 billion in new taxes over the course of the next 10 years, starting fiscal year 2011, most of which are tax increases on individuals.

1) On people making more than $250,000.

$338 billion – Bush tax cuts expire
$179 billlion – eliminate itemized deduction
$118 billion – capital gains tax hike

Total: $636 billion/10 years

2) Businesses: (more…)

O no:

The evidence continues to grow that the story Bobby Jindal told Tuesday night — about how he backed a tough-talking sheriff’s efforts to rescue Katrina victims, government red-tape be damed — was, how to put it … made up.

Delivering the GOP response to President Obama’s speech to Congress, Jindal had his first chance to impress a national audience. To do so, he told the following story:MORE

The New York Times reports that President Barack Obama proves himself to be truly fiscal responsible:

President Obama’s new budget blueprint estimates a stunning deficit of $1.75 trillion for the current fiscal year, which began five months ago, then lays out a wrenching change of course as he seeks to finance his own priorities while stanching the flow of red ink.

It’s the new fiscal responsibility:MORE

It seems that Illinois Senator Roland Burris and former Governor Rod Blagojevich did some dirty business with each other: Blagojevich appointed Burris’ untalented tax evading son to a job at the state, earning him some $75,000 a year. A nice government salary for anyone, let alone for a man who doesn’t pay his taxes.

As Michelle Malkin puts it rather well, “it’s the Chicago-way.”

First Burries denied that Blagojevich tried to lure him into a pay-to-play scheme.MORE

From the usual suspects, of course.  The usual suspects meaning the Democrats.  If this is true, reporter and very openly liberally biased journalist Helen Thomas is the first to throw a shot at Jindal, allegedly making a remark at his Indian heritage.  So says White House correspondent Christina Bellantoni.

Bobby Jindal was ‘pitiful,’ Helen Thomas tells film crew, right before making a ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ crack

Or does she say so?  Maybe not:MORE

Gaffemeister…I mean, Vice President Joe Biden (sorry, I sometimes forget he has a new title now) was giving an interview with the Early Show yesterday.  Apparently they were on the subject of government’s new stimulus information site, recovery.gov.  Biden forgot the address, or as he calls it, the “number”:

Anchor Maggie Rodriguez: “By the way, do you know the website?”

Biden:MORE
