As Michael Merrit wrote recently, fellow Muslims who wish to improve Islam’s image in the West are wise to refrain from beheading their wife.

It’s something Muzzammil Hassan doesn’t understand. He was recently arrested; police suspected him of killing his beloved wife by beheading her. CNN now reports that the suspicions are correct. Muzzammil has reportedly admitted to interrogators that he beheaded her.

The reason Muzzammil killed his wife, Aasiya Hassan? She filed for divorce earlier this month. Muzzammil beat his wife regularly. After calling in the police several times, Aasiya decided to save herself by divorcing her husband and getting out of the home. The latter couldn’t accept it and ruthlessly killed her.

It’s a terribly sad story; Muzzammil is less than a man. We can only hope that few Muslims looked to him for guidance and that he will serve the rest of his life in jail.
