Fox News’ Shepard Smith interviewed Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher on his show yesterday over a statement he made at an RNC event yesterday, that he agreed with a questioner that a vote for Obama would mean “the death of Israel”. It got a little heated:

Iranian news media say a lawmaker has physically assaulted a confidant of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, alleging the official was trying to pay legislators not to vote for the impeachment of the interior minister.

In what is a clear sign that the race in Pennsylvania is closer than many polls indicate, a spokesman of Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell accused the Republican Party of having a “Jim Crow attitude.”
The spokesman’s insult came in response to allegations of voter fraud. The Republican Party has taken the step to ‘question the validity of some new registrations – most of which were gathered by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now’ (ACORN). (more…)

In response to a U.S. raid on a building in Syria last Sunday, the Syrian government demanded an apology from the United States Wednesday, and said it expected compensation for the damage caused by the attack.
The United States said the strike against the Syrian target had been carried out because a prominent Al Qaeda member was hiding in the building, from which foreign Al Qaeda fighters were smuggled into Iraq.
Syria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mekdad told the Associated Press that this was not the case.>| MORE

According to the Hill, Senator Joe Lieberman, one of the few independents in the United States Senate and former Democrat with an independent mind, may lose his chairmanship.
Sources told the Hill that Democratic leaders want to oust Lieberman of his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee. If all goes to plan Lieberman will be replaced by the third ranking Democrat on the committee, Sen. Daniel Akaka (Hawaii). (more…)

Campaigning in Florida on Wednesday, Senator John McCain promised Floridians that he would allow more offshore drilling as president. Additionally, McCain said, he would make sure that more oil revenues would go back to the coastal states.
Although he would not force any state to drill in its coastal waters, McCain said he would give them incentives which would make it financially more attractive for them to start drilling.| MORE
