Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell told an annual conference of intelligence officials and contractors in Nashville, Tennessee, yesterday that the “period of most vulnerability for the United States is the first year of a new president,” regardless of who that president may be.

One of the main fears of U.S. intelligence officials is that terrorists will try to use biological weapons in future attacks.

CNN believes that McConnell’s remarks justify Sen. Joe Biden who warned last week that enemies of the United States would try to “test” Barack Obama. John McCain’s campaign reacted immediately to Biden’s words, arguing that America did not need a president who invites “tests.”

The network, which is heavily pro-Obama, forgets to point out, however, that Biden did not merely make the case that any president would be tested, but Obama specifically. He also, importantly, noted that Americans may not be happy with Obama’s response. Instead, Obama and Biden will need their supports to “stand with” them in order to withstand public opinion. or so Biden implied.

Strangely, CNN left that part of Biden’s statement out of its report published today, once again making clear that if one wants to read reliable information, most American news organizations are the wrong place to go.
