In her first interview since being released from jail, former prominent athlete Marion Jones told Oprah Winfrey she did not know that she used steroids when she accepted them.

She also told Winfrey that she often wonders whether she would have been able to win gold medals during the Olympic Games of Sidney, Australia, if she would not have taken them. She, probably rightfully, seems to believe she would have.

Jones acknowledged that she used performance enhancing drugs and that she lied to prosecutors about it. However, she said, at the time she took the drugs, she did think it was “flaxseed oil,” not drugs.

The former superstar was released from prison last month after serving most of the six-month sentence she received for lying to investigators.
