So how about showing off this intelligence rather than lyibng as if your life depended on it and going all negative? Sorry, but I am calling what I see and Palin has not promoted herself well.

That the campaign felt they had to hide her away from the press and script her every word and move when she was allowed to speak in public, speaks volumes about how much confidence they had in her in the first place.
They say that George W Bush is intelligent-- did that mean that he was a capable commander-in-chief?

The problem is not a lack of intelligence. It's one of not having really thought about national issues before her selection as VP. That's okay if you're Alaska's governor, but not in you want to appear on a national stage.

Compounding the problem is the McCain campaign's handling of her run. If the stories that keep coming up are to be believed, they pretty much scripted her every move, at least in the beginning. She could probably have handled some of the interviews better if (and sorry to use the old cliche again) they let "Palin be Palin."

I'm not surprised by Lafferty's observations in the least. Political junkies who are true to their obesssion and/or craft (i.e. highly observant) should have caught clear indications of intelligence in Palin's unscripted interviews, as well as impromtu moments during campaign speeches. Perhaps too many alleged media professionals are paying more attention to Tina Fey's contempt-filled depiction of the candidate than they are the candidate herself.
