In what is probably the weirdest animal news we have published in several months, it seems that a giant spider killed and ate a bird in Australia.
The spider, Golden Orb Weaver, is known for making big, strong webs. It does so to catch large insects, not birds, however.

Giant Spider Eats Bird
Until an Australian man living in Atheron walked into his garden, and suddenly saw his garder spider eat a Chestnut-breasted Mannikin.
According to experts, the bird probably flew into the web, after which the spider let the bird fight against the web until it was exhausted, perhaps even dead due to a lack of water or food, or an overflow of stress of course.
Once severely weakened / dead the spider went in, and started eating.
In other animal news, firefighters in Taiwan were in for a surprise when they threw a tiny mouse into the cage of their pet snake. They had found the venomous viper in a local resident’s home, and thought he would appreciate it if they gave him a living mouse for lunch.

Mouse kills snake in Taiwan
Well, not so. Instead of running away frightened to death of the snake, the mouse decided to put up a fight. And quite successfully so. After 30 minutes the Supermouse was alive and doing well, while the snake was dead.
The snake had tried to attack the mouse several times, but couldn’t get a bite in. The mouse, on the other hand, attacked so frequently and weakened the snake so tremendously, that he was, in the end, able to go in for the kill; he bit the snake in its head, and that was that.
