Huckabee; Israel Safer than the US
Former Governor of Arkansas as potential running mate of Senator John McCain told reporters, shortly before going to the Jewish nation-state, he feels safer walking around in Israeli than in American cities.
“I have no fear to go to Israel,” Huckabee said before boarding a plane at Kennedy Airport.
“I felt more fear in American cities. I can walk down the streets of Tel Aviv at night without a problem. But I, of course, have the knowledge of which places not to go at night, just like any other city in America.”
Although the point is well taken – lower criminality rates in Israel, for instance – one wonders why it is that Huckabee and others like him pretend that Israel could be destroyed by its enemies any time now.

Can’t the media understand that they make a bad image to US by twisting the words. And though the article is ridiculous, Huckabee is absolutely right. Driving through Oakland, CA one time, there was a security person at the JFK restaurant, because of how dangerous some areas of that city are.

Is "journalistic malpractice" still alive and well in America? Sometimes it’s nice to have witnesses that can tell us their side of the story; other times you have to go straight to the source to be able to decide which is telling the truth. For anyone that would like to read Huckabee’s side of the story; go to HuckPAC.com and read "Shalom from Israel" by Mike Huckabee in the blog.

I can see what Huckabee means. I remember a friend of mine returning from Israel and saying the same thing.
It’s because there are so many people with guns. That makes criminals afraid.

The media can’t seem to get a quote right lately! I can’t believe they are trying to twist something positive that Huckabee is doing into a negative somehow that he has said Israel is safer than here. He rightfully, said he feels safe there and there are SOME cities here that aren’t safe. Look what just happened in Arkansas where the Democratic Chairman was shot dead for no apparent reason. Why must they try and make everything Huckabee says into something negative. How pathetic! He must be over the target lately because everyone is certainly interested in what he has to say.

[...] Jerusalem would be cool…but not getting blown up would be cooler…thoughts? I know Mike Huckabee’s opinion. Can’t wait for that doucherocket’s next national campaign when he’s got to walk [...]

Michael van der Galien, responsible journalists get their facts and quotes straight BEFORE reporting them. What Mike Huckabee really said was that he wasn’t afraid of going to Israel, that
in SOME AMERICAN cities, he didn’t always feel safe. He pointed out that every city has dangers and risks and he doesn’t think of Israel as any more dangerous than most American cities.
Good journalism in this country has taken a dive in recent years.
