Still doing well on the weight lose front; I’ve lost approximately 17 kilos now, since I started exercising and eating less in March of this year. That’s approximately 37 pounds. 6 kilos to go! (13 pounds).

Because of the global food crisis (thank you biofuel), people are dying. They’re rioting, calling on their government to help them… because they’re hungry, but can’t afford to buy food for themselves nor for their children. Little children walk around with ‘hunger bellies.’ They’re crying constantly; they need food. Their mothers are depressed; they realize that their children – and they themselves – may die within a matter of weeks. Does anyone care? Nah.
So… what’s for dinner?

Senator John McCain has proposed a suspension of the federal tax on gasoline to give motorists a break from high gas prices during the summer driving season. Senator Hillary Clinton has expressed lukewarm support for the idea while Senator Barack Obama has opposed it.
Obama is making the only coherent argument in this sea of trivial populism. (more…)

Senator John McCain says that he opposes a bill (in the Senate) that would force companies to pay women the same amount of money they pay men (for the same work). The reason? Such a law would lead to more lawsuits. And no, I’m not making this up. (more…)
