I am currently reading Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “Crime and Punishment”. Although most call it a ‘detective’, it is much more than that. Although I have not finished reading it yet, I already feel confident in saying that this book constitutes a fantastic start of a new literary year. Dostoevsky’s description of Raskolnikov’s thoughprocesses, the almost in-depth study of this main character, how he is struggling with himself, with the world, with Nihilism and… how he works towards redemption (or so I hope; again, haven’t finished reading it yet), it is absolutely terrific.
So, my advice to you is… if you haven’t read “Crime and Punishment” yet, go to the library or bookstore now and… get yourself a copy.
